The Lady Eagles have begun their season with hopes of repeating last year's success. The 2009 SAC champions advanced to the Southeast SuperRegionals and finished the season 21st in the nation . They opened the season last weekend, traveling to South Carolina for three wins against Anderson and Erskine. The Lady Eagles won both games at Anderson 5-1 and 7-3 and won their first game against Erskine 5-3 while falling short during the second game, losing 2-1. The ladies run-ruled Lees-McRae, leaving with two wins, scores 8-0 and 9-0.
Head Coach, Vickee Kazee-Hollifield is excited to have seven returning players and she is confident that will help tremendously with the season. The ladies are very confident about this season and are looking forward to return to the South Atlantic Conference, if they measure up to last year. The Lady Eagles were named preseason favorite to be SAC champions.
Last year they ended their season 32-17 and won the South Atlantic Conference Tournament for the 9th time. They were also ranked 21st in the nation.
When asked about the season, catcher Ashley Dillard said, "We need to learn from past mistakes but we don't need to lean on past success.
