JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. — The Carson Newman Eagles lost to the visiting Newberry Wolves 24-3 at Burke-Tarr Stadium. The loss sends the Eagles to 2-2 on the season, 0-2 in conference play.

Carson Newman was kept out of the end zone the entire game, the first time since the 2005 season against Presbyterian. CN was held to just 3 first downs, 123 rushing yards and 60 passing yards with only one trip to the red zone.

Head coach Ken Sparks said after the game, "We have got to get execution on both sides of the ball, especially offense." When asked about the team not being able to score a touchdown for the first time in six years, Sparks said, "Whatever records were setting were earning them."

Nate Inmanled the team with rushing yards netting 68. Other stat leaders include Larry Lumpkin with 8 tackles and a tie for receiving yards between Jared Olive and Eric Benton with 20 a piece.

The Eagles return to action October 1st at Wingate and return home October 8th for a 1:00 p.m. game against Catawba.
