Basketball Wraps Up Regular Season

The men's basketball team broke a 5 game losing streak on senior night at Holt Feildhouse beating LMU 78-75. Senior guard Jordan Dixon had a career high 25 points as C-N swept past LMU in his final home game of the season. The Eagles, finishing 10-15 (overall), and 5-9 (SAC), were 21 of 27 from the free throw line and shot 9 of 17 from behind the arc.

Sophomore guard Cameron Sharp added 18 points to the victory including a buzzer beater three-pointer with nearly 29 seconds remaining in the 2nd half. Tray Okoth also contributed to the rival victory with 14 points, and senior Darron Maxtion and Quinche Dowdell each scooped 9 points for the win.

The Eagles came off of five losses falling to Tusculum and Mars Hill weeks ago and to Brevard at home on Wednesday 76-59.
The team has also faced tough loses recently to King College and Lenior-Rhyne on the road. The team will head into the weekend facing Wingate on Saturday, Feb. 27.

The No. 22 ranked Lady Eagles beat the Railsplitter's 69-65 Saturday afternoon in Hold Feildhouse. Senior, and former Jefferson County High School standout Ashley Kyle, topped off 19 points while fellow teammate Shari Buford added 12 points to the Eagles defeat against SAC rival, LMU. Sophomore, Mandy Mendenhall had 11 points to add to the team's victory. The Lady Eagles are 21-4 overall, and 10-4 conference play.

After coming off a 3 game losing streak, the team has won the last 4 out of 5 games and will head on the road to Catawba and Wingate next week seeking a couple of more wins.

Ashley Kyle stated, "At first, I didn't think we would be successful because the many different personalities that we have on the team. Once we all got to know each other, things were a lot better, and winning games were easy. We don't always agree, but we all make it work for each other. We have each other's backs, and it's a great thing.
