A Carson-Newman nursing student will be honored next month for her devotion to patients and quality care. January was a snowy month in Tennessee, and Angela, a graduate nursing student, was out in the worst of the weather making house calls. A patient with lung cancer and pneumonia located near Carson-Newman needed delivery of her medicine, and Angela volunteered to do so. Braving icy roads in a 4x4 jeep and even walking when the roads got too bad, Angela delivered medicine and care twice a day over several days. Friends in the nursing department began spreading the word, and within days Angela received a call from Jeffrey Jeter, of Amedisys home health.
Angela will be honored during Jeters speech on quality home care, taking place march 7-12 during an investors conference for Amedisys. The whole Clapp family will be making the trip to Florida, where they will attend the conference and then be given an all expenses paid trip to Disney world.
Angela, and her husband Tommy, say they were surprised and excited about the award. Both are excited about getting a chance to take their three kids to Disney for the first time. The trip will no doubt be a welcome break, as both are heavily involved in residence life as well as their own independent studies.
Angela and her family have been serving Carson-Newman and its students well. The trip will take place on the 7-12 of March and family will be back home in Heritage hall shortly before spring break ends. It's a satisfying and exciting reward for a hard working college family.
