Achievement Recognized at Student Affairs Banquet

Familiar names around campus rang out during this year's Student Affairs Banquet. The names are familiar to many because these are the students that are actively involved and hold leadership roles around campus.

Student Affairs holds the banquet each year to honor these students, as well as certain faculty members, for their dedicated efforts in a variety of areas around campus.

Baccalaureate Returns to Commencement Activities

As over three hundred students prepare to walk across the stage on May 14, college administration has also been planning a few changes to the commencement activities for this Spring 2010 class.

Brummett, Carpenter Named Sullivan Winners

At this year's annual Honors Convocation chapel on April 13, two students were awarded the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award, which is one of the highest recognitions of Carson-Newman College students.

The award was established by the New York Southern Society to honor its founder, Algernon Sydney Sullivan, who exemplified spiritual qualities applied to daily living.

Osborne Wins Distinguished Faculty Award

Psychology professor Dr. Larry Osborne is 2010 winner of the Distinguished Faculty Award.

Osborne was described by Provost Kina Mallard as a "service leader." Over his thirty-one years at C-N, he has championed causes to "give a voice to the voiceless" and to stand for justice.

Bonners Net Grant from Foundation

The Carson-Newman Bonner Scholars are on track to receive a multi-million dollar endowment.

For 20 years now, the Carson-Newman Bonner Program has been working to initiate change in the community and is set to receive endowment from the national foundation.

Ellis Honored for Community Service

Bookstore Manager Bill Ellis was awarded the Community Service Award during Honors Convocation on April 13.
Ellis is a familiar face around campus, with Boy Scout Troop 76, and national foundation of Boy Scouts of America.
He has worked at Carson-Newman for 13 years.

Students, faculty and staff joined forces to celebrate the 40th Earth Day holiday during the week of April 19-23.
Julie Rabun, associate professor of Art, helped orchestrate an art project using 5,000 recycled bottle caps, which were used to create a large mural.
