Butler Renovation Approved

Butler dormitory is in for some major changes. Call it "renovating," call it "re-structuring," or call it a term current Butler residents can definitely relate to: a "make-over."

The Executive Committee of the Carson-Newman Board of Trustees announced plans at its' March 7 meeting to begin a major renovation of Butler Hall.

Advising for Fall Registration Begins

Advising and registration for the Summer and Fall 2008 semesters begins Monday, April 7 and will continue through Thursday, April 17. A complete undergraduate course listing is available on pages 3 and 4 of this issue of the Orange and Blue.
The registrar's office is encouraging all students to make an appointment with your adviser
during the time appointed for your classification.

C-N Kicks off Final Four

The "Final Four" began this week, and not just in college basketball. Academic support, student success and career services are teaming up to begin the "Final Four Weeks to Finals," a four week kick-off to prepare students for final exams, to provide fun activities and to offer some therapeutic stress-relieving events.

Forensics 2nd in Novice Competition

Over the extra long spring break, many students vacationed at the beach or in the snow, others went on SPOTS mission trips, but the Carson-Newman forensics team headed to Pensacola to compete in a novice competition. Out of the 41-school field, C-N placed second overall.

"Ruth" Prepares for Debut in Phoenix Theatre

On April 11, at 7:30 p.m. in the Phoenix Theatre, Carson-Newman's Drama department will present "Ruth." Amanda Sutton-Davis, a Carson-Newman Theatre Graduate, wrote the play "Ruth."

"It's a delightfully heartwarming expression," says Director of Theatre, Ev Robertson.

Students Touch Lives on Spring Break Trips

While many were off enjoying lounging on the beach or sleeping in until noon, many C-N students dedicated their spring break to giving back to others. Students traveled to nine diverse locations with S.P.O.T.S. (Special Projects Other Than Summer) team to do missions work.

Hold on tight in the roller coaster of life

Life is like a roller coaster; it has its ups and downs. Sometimes you cannot see the light at the end of a dark tunnel and you wonder when the nightmare is going to end. But no matter how scared it makes us, we grit our teeth and hold on for dear life and in the end, we learn from it (in the case of roller coasters, often not to eat chili cheese dogs beforehand) and often, enjoy the ride.

Unbelievable Update: Hannah Kate gives through the pain
